A couple in Shanghai decided to divorce after being unable to agree on the name of their newborn child for over a year. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The couple officially married in 2023 and had a son one year later. However, misunderstandings and conflicts arose regarding the child's name.
This issue persisted for a year, and as a result, the birth certificate was not obtained, leaving the child without access to medical care. According to the Shanghai Pudong District Court, the parents approached the hospital to register the name they liked for the child, but this was not possible because, according to regulations, both parents must approve the name.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that the parents did not provide adequate care for the child, as the absence of a birth certificate violates the rights of a minor. The court imposed an obligation on the parents to complete all documentation within the specified period and to determine the child's full name.
Nevertheless, the couple also failed to agree on who should keep the original documents. As a result, a decision was made to hand over the birth certificate to law enforcement agencies.
This situation once again highlights the importance of trust and agreement in family relationships.
