Female athlete in Iran arrested for performing without a headscarf
It was reported that female sports coach Khaniya Sharati Rudposhti was arrested for performing acrobatic movements without a headscarf in public in Iran. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to local sources, she was detained for violating mandatory hijab laws. The "Hengau" human rights organization based in Norway stated that the athlete was arrested on the evening of November 9 and was allowed to speak with her family by phone only once.

Currently, the whereabouts of Khaniya Sharati are unknown. At the same time, it has been reported that her social media pages, including her Instagram account with over 160,000 followers, are being monitored by the Iranian security service.

Recently, the Iranian government has been demanding strict adherence to dress codes in public places. The country’s chief prosecutor, Mohammad Movahedi Azad, emphasized that following Islamic norms is every woman’s religious duty and announced that penalties for violations of the law will be intensified.

The issue of the hijab has been a subject of debate in Iran for many years. The arrest of Khaniya Sharati has once again revived ongoing disputes in the country regarding this matter.
