Plans to move Iran's capital to the Makran region
The Iranian government is considering relocating the capital Tehran to another region. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This was announced by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. According to the president, the excessive population of Tehran, drought, and water resource shortages are complicating the city's future development.

For this reason, the government proposes selecting the southeastern Makran region as the new capital. The issue of moving the capital has been under discussion for many years, but the lack of financial resources has delayed the implementation of this project.

According to the president, the current situation necessitates relocating the capital. Currently, about 10 million people live in Tehran, and the city cannot withstand dense construction and water shortages.

Concerns about water scarcity are increasing among the population, and even the possibility of partial evacuation is being discussed. Ecologists emphasize that the problems are not only related to drought but also to the mismanagement of water resources.

They propose introducing modern water-saving technologies and reconsidering urban planning approaches. The Makran region is located on the coast of the Gulf of Oman and holds strategic importance for maritime trade.

This area belongs to the Sistan and Baluchestan province and is considered a favorable location for the capital due to its geographical position.
