Experienced American diplomat Juli S. Davis (Fisher) will begin his duties as the US's interim representative in Ukraine starting May 5. This was officially announced by the US Embassy in Kyiv on May 1.
Diplomatic mission on behalf of Trump and Rubio
Juli Davis will now be responsible for communication with the Ukrainian government and the Ukrainian people on behalf of US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The embassy's press service emphasized that he will work tirelessly to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, end the war, and take steps towards a safe and stable future.
At the same time — in two embassies
Interestingly, Juli Davis will also retain his position as the US ambassador to Cyprus. This means he will be active on two important fronts. Davis has extensive experience in diplomatic service:
▪️ US Ambassador/Special Representative to Belarus,
▪️ Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Europe and EU Affairs,
▪️ Served as Deputy Ambassador in the US Permanent Mission to NATO.
Until a new ambassador is appointed — the key figure
Currently, until a new ambassador is appointed to Ukraine by the US president, Juli Davis will serve in this position on an interim basis. His task is to maintain and strengthen the strategic relationship between the two countries at a high level.
The US is initiating new efforts for peace and development in Ukraine. This time, confidence has been placed in Juli Davis, who has significant diplomatic experience, rather than another diplomat. His activities in Kyiv are expected to elevate US–Ukraine relations to a new level.
Such appointments indicate that the US is pursuing a strategic, clear, and serious policy regarding Ukraine.
