
Local media reported that the death toll from the fire at the Wang Fuk Court residential complex in Hong Kong has reached 65. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Additionally, about 70 citizens are receiving medical assistance in the hospital. According to government officials, the rapid spread of the fire was caused by flammable polystyrene material used during repair works.
Regarding this incident, the police have detained three employees of a contracting organization on suspicion of negligence and mismanagement that led to the deaths of people. So far, the fate of approximately 280 people is unknown, and contact has not been established with them.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing. The Hong Kong government has ordered an immediate inspection of all repair works being carried out in state residential complexes.
This measure is being implemented to prevent such tragedies in the future.
