The European Union may start an antitrust investigation against Meta. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the Financial Times publication, this is due to Meta's use of its artificial intelligence technologies in the WhatsApp messenger. Sources indicate that an official announcement is expected in the coming days.
Meta has integrated a chatbot and an AI assistant into WhatsApp. These technologies have been introduced in the European market since March 2025.
Earlier this year, the Italian government launched a separate investigation accusing Meta of promoting AI functions by abusing market dominance. There are also allegations that the company is imposing restrictions on chatbots from other manufacturers.
However, the European Commission has not yet commented on this matter. Meta representatives stated that they have no official information about the start of the investigation and called the Italian government's accusations unfounded.
This process may further strengthen the European Union's antitrust policy.
