Eight students at School No. 14 in Baku, Azerbaijan, were poisoned after chewing gum and required medical assistance. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Local sources report that the students felt unwell during class and informed the school administration about their condition.
The administration immediately called an ambulance, and the poisoned children were taken to the hospital. Relevant authorities and the parents of the children were notified about the incident.
According to preliminary information, one of the students bought gum from a nearby store on the way to school and shared it with classmates. After chewing the gum, the children's health deteriorated.
An investigation is currently underway regarding this incident. A similar case was observed in Indonesia in September 2023.
In the Sipongkor district of West Java province, schoolchildren were hospitalized after being poisoned by free lunches provided by the country's president. Within three days, symptoms of poisoning were recorded in 1,258 children.
According to experts, the main cause of poisoning was improperly prepared meals. Specifically, soy sauce chicken, fried tofu, and some fruits caused symptoms such as abdominal pain, dizziness, nausea, and shortness of breath in the children.
Appropriate measures are being taken regarding these incidents.
