In the town of Guayba in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, a strong wind caused a replica of the Liberty statue to collapse. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The incident occurred at night local time. Videos shared by the local G1 portal showed the statue swaying along with its base during the storm, then falling to the ground.
Experts had previously warned that wind speeds in the area could exceed 25 meters per second. Unfortunately, the forecast proved accurate.
It is reported that the total height of the statue, including its base, was 35 meters. The fallen part was approximately 24 meters.
The most notable aspect is that no one was injured as a result of the incident. After the event, the area was completely cordoned off to strengthen safety measures.
Currently, local authorities are investigating the incident and plan to decide whether to restore the statue or dismantle it completely.
