The United Nations World Food Programme has reported that food shortages in Afghanistan are worsening year by year. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the organization, opportunities to assist millions of people in the country are limited, and the situation is becoming increasingly severe. Since the Taliban movement regained power in Afghanistan, the volume of international financial and humanitarian aid has significantly decreased.
In addition, natural disasters, including earthquakes, have further deepened the existing crisis. According to UN data, at least 460 million dollars are needed to provide food for 6 million Afghans belonging to the most vulnerable groups.
Currently, 17 million people in the country are suffering from hunger. It is noted that this figure has increased by nearly 3 million compared to last year.
Especially, the situation among children remains critical. Official data shows that 3.7 million children are not getting enough food, with 1 million of them living in severe hunger.
Experts emphasize that without necessary aid, this condition could lead to long-term health problems and increased risk of death among children. This issue requires joint efforts from the international community.
Urgent and effective measures are needed to eliminate food shortages in the country.
