Petro Trump called the statements a threat to Colombia

Colombian President Gustavo Petro responded to former US President Donald Trump's remarks about the possibility of using force against Latin American countries. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Petro emphasized that he perceived these statements as a threat to the country's sovereignty and to himself personally. It is known that Trump warned President Petro to "be careful" and accused Colombia of cocaine production and its trafficking to the US.
In response, Petro used a figurative expression representing the will of his people and spoke about the risk of awakening the "people's jaguar." According to him, such actions could lead to the emergence of new partisans in Colombia's mountainous regions.
Petro also warned about the potential harm to innocent civilians, especially children. He specifically stressed that actions like bombing areas inhabited by farmers could disrupt peace in the region.
The president stated that clear instructions have been given to every Colombian soldier: if anyone places the US flag above the Colombian flag, they will be immediately dismissed from service. Petro rejected attempts to portray him as involved in illegal activities, stating that all his property consists of a family home, which he pays for with his salary.
He also expressed his trust in his people and called on them to protect the president from illegal actions. He informed that security forces have been ordered to "target the invader, not the people."
It is worth recalling that Trump had previously made harsh statements about Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and used strong rhetoric towards Colombia and Mexico.
