As of May 8, 2025, the conflict between India and Pakistan has intensified. In response to a terrorist attack in Kashmir on April 22 that resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists, India conducted airstrikes on May 7 against targets linked to terrorist groups in Pakistan.
The Pakistani side reported that 31 civilians were killed as a result of these strikes, including 10 relatives of Masood Azhar, the leader of the "Jaish-e-Muhammad" group. India stated that the strikes were aimed solely at terrorist targets and that over 100 terrorists were eliminated.
On May 8, several explosions occurred in Lahore. The Pakistani army announced that it had shot down 25 drones sent by India. India claimed to have thwarted Pakistan's attacks using drones and missiles.
This conflict is further complicating relations between the two nuclear-armed states. The international community is urging both sides to cease violence and engage in negotiations
