Suspect arrested for assassination attempt on Russian general in Dubai
The main suspect in the assassination attempt on Vladimir Alekseev, a high-ranking general of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff leadership, was arrested in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The information was based on data from the Russian Federal Security Service. It is reported that the arrested individual is 66-year-old Russian citizen Lyubomir Korbadir, who is considered the direct executor of the assassination attempt.
It is said that law enforcement agencies of the United Arab Emirates handed over the suspect to Russia. Additionally, another person in Moscow — Viktor Vasin, born in 1959 — was also detained in connection with this case.
Furthermore, Zinaida Serebritskaya, born in 1971, is suspected of involvement in the incident, but it is noted that she managed to leave for Ukraine. Officials consider these individuals as possible accomplices.
According to investigation data, the suspect was born in Ukraine in 1960 and arrived in Moscow in December 2025. The Russian Investigative Committee assumes that he acted on the orders of Ukrainian special services to organize a terrorist act.
Viktor Vasin faces charges of illegal possession of weapons and attempted murder of a military serviceman. The assassination attempt on the general occurred on the morning of February 6 in front of his home in Moscow.
According to law enforcement information, as the general was walking towards his service vehicle, he encountered a person who introduced himself as a food delivery worker. During the attack, the general was wounded but was unable to fully carry out the assailant’s plan due to active resistance.
The general was hospitalized and reportedly regained consciousness after surgery. This incident also resonated in international political relations.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov described the act as a provocation aimed at obstructing negotiations. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga denied Kyiv’s involvement in this incident.
