Mirziyoyev and Aliyev discussed the situation in the Middle East

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke by phone with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on March 5. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the beginning of the conversation, our country's leader strongly condemned the attacks carried out by unmanned aerial vehicles on Azerbaijani territory and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. During the conversation, it was emphasized that the recent escalation of tensions in the Middle East and the increasing number of civilian casualties are causing serious concern.
It was specifically noted that such tragedies occurring during the blessed month of Ramadan contradict universal human values, international norms, and the principles of territorial integrity of states. The most important issue is the safety of citizens.
The leader of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to Ilham Aliyev for the measures being taken to safely evacuate Uzbek citizens from Iran through Azerbaijani territory. Aliyev, in turn, expressed appreciation for the support and friendly dialogue.
On the same day, the situation also escalated around the airport in the city of Nakhchivan, belonging to Azerbaijan: it was reported that the airport buildings were damaged and people were injured as a result of a drone attack. The Azerbaijani leader strongly condemned this incident and called for a meeting of the Security Council.
The conclusion is simple: today, the matter is not only about diplomacy — it is about saving lives, reducing risks, and keeping the situation under control. Especially when the region is in a delicate state, every agreement, every corridor, every support becomes a real path to rescue.
