The Uzbekistan-Afghanistan Joint Business Council has been established.

Uzbekistan and Afghanistan held the first meeting of their Joint Business Council in Tashkent. Zamin.uz reported on this event.
This meeting created new opportunities for developing trade and broader economic cooperation. The newly established council unites representatives of major sectors from both countries and aims to support direct contacts between companies.
According to the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the meeting was chaired by chamber leaders Davron Vahobov and Muhammad Karim Hashimi. The council consists of 32 members, including heads of Uzbek industrial associations and leaders of leading Afghan enterprises.
Council members represent sectors such as construction materials, textiles, electrical equipment, petroleum products, pharmaceuticals, and the food industry. During discussions, participants addressed expanding trade relations, developing joint projects, and implementing digital customs systems to simplify cross-border procedures.
Additionally, plans were made to regularly organize exhibitions and business forums to launch new partnerships and encourage investments. According to Davron Vahobov, the council should serve as an effective mechanism for direct dialogue among entrepreneurs and become a key tool in boosting business activity.
This meeting took place shortly after Uzbekistan approved a preferential trade agreement with Afghanistan. This step facilitates the exchange of goods between the two neighboring states and strengthens economic cooperation.
