Israel Parliament Restores Death Penalty for Palestinian Prisoners

The Knesset, the supreme legislative body of the State of Israel, approved a new bill to reinstate the death penalty for prisoners in the Palestinian territories at a held meeting. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This serious decision was considered in the decisive third reading and was adopted by the majority of more than seven hundred votes in parliament. Out of the parliament's twelve hundred members, 62 voted in favor of the new bill, while 48 deputies expressed opposition.
According to the adopted document, the method of execution by hanging has been established as the official form of punishment for those sentenced to death. Israel's Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, described this decision as a very important step for the state and openly supported it.
Additionally, it was confirmed that the country's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, also stood in favor of the bill and voted for it. According to the state television announcement, the new law provides clear instructions on the procedure and implementation of the punishment.
However, this decision was sharply criticized by opposition parties and political activists. Critics argue that the introduction of the death penalty contradicts not only moral standards but also democratic values and principles of international law.
Opposition representatives expressed their dissent and announced plans to file a complaint with the Israeli Supreme Court. Observers who deeply analyze the regional situation emphasize that the adoption of this law may bring specific risks.
According to them, this decision could further complicate the political situation in the region and is highly likely to provoke broad discussions on the international stage. The international community's attention is currently focused on the next steps of the Israeli government and the practical changes that this law will cause.
In the future, various diplomatic agreements and negotiations on this issue are expected to take place.
