Consuming sushi can pose a serious threat to human health

Consuming sushi may pose certain health risks, although such cases are not always reported. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The main dangers are primarily associated with raw fish, seafood, or insufficiently processed ingredients in the dish. If the product becomes contaminated with harmful bacteria such as salmonella during preparation, these microorganisms can enter the human body through food and cause various infections.
Such gastrointestinal illnesses typically manifest as nausea, elevated body temperature, severe abdominal pain, and significant dehydration of the body. In most cases, symptoms in healthy individuals last for several days and then resolve on their own.
However, in young children, elderly individuals, and people with weakened immune systems, the infection can progress severely. In such cases, the patient's condition may deteriorate, requiring hospitalization and specialized medical treatment.
Recently, there have been reports that some patients, after suffering a severe infection, were admitted to the intensive care unit and later developed Bell's palsy. This condition involves damage to the facial nerve, resulting in restricted or complete loss of movement on one side of the face.
It should be emphasized that, from a medical standpoint, salmonella infection is not considered a primary or common cause of Bell's palsy. Such occurrences are extremely rare, and each case must be carefully and thoroughly investigated by qualified specialists.
When consuming sushi and similar dishes made from raw ingredients, it is recommended to observe precautionary measures. First and foremost, choose reliable and reputable establishments, ensure the freshness of the ingredients, and confirm that strict hygiene and sanitation standards are being followed.
Making the right choice and exercising caution will help protect your health from various unexpected risks.
