The Chinese company XPeng plans to start mass production of the world's first flying cars in 2026, according to Xinhua news agency.
According to the company's CEO He Xiaopeng, XPeng aims to implement this plan against the backdrop of the development of the low-altitude flying vehicle market in China and government support. If all works proceed as planned, XPeng will become the first company in the world to mass-produce flying cars.
According to China's economic and social development plan for 2025, the country plans to expand the use of low-altitude flying vehicles. At the same time, efforts will be made to strengthen safety measures and mitigate risks.
Representatives of XPeng have stated that the company plans to complete the construction of its flying car manufacturing plant by the end of 2024 and aims to start pre-sales of the XPeng Aeroht modular vehicle by the end of 2024. This vehicle will have the capability to take off with two people by deploying a flying device from its trunk.
The initial price of this car is expected to be around 1-2 million yuan (approximately 138-276 thousand US dollars). Initially, it will be launched in the Chinese market, with plans to later expand to the international market. The company aims to start deliveries to customers in the fourth quarter of 2025.
