
The large Russian automotive group AvtoVAZ intends to re-enter the Uzbek market. This was announced by the company's president, Maxim Sokolov, in an interview with the TASS agency.
One of the main directions is Uzbekistan
Sokolov emphasized that the company aims to restore and further expand its export activities. According to him, this will primarily cover:
- Belarus,
- Kazakhstan,
- and, of course, the Uzbekistan markets.
“We plan to restore the sales volume that existed until 2022,” said the head of AvtoVAZ.
Granta is gradually leaving, Iskra is becoming the leader
Currently, considering that Lada Granta cars are still in demand, their production will not be halted. However, the main focus will be on the new Lada Iskra model.
On April 19, the serial production of Iskra officially began in Tolyatti. The new model may replace Granta.

2020 — More than 5,000 Lada cars were sold in Uzbekistan through the Roodell dealership network.
2021 — The “Vesta,” “Largus,” and “XRay” models began to be assembled at the ADM Jizzakh plant in Jizzakh.
2022 — A plan was announced to implement a full production cycle of Lada cars in Uzbekistan. It was planned to produce 30,000 cars per year.
April 2023 — The president of AvtoVAZ announced the intention to localize the new model of Lada Vesta in Uzbekistan.
Questions amid sanctions
At the same time, in September 2023, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) included AvtoVAZ in the sanctions list. This situation may have affected the company's international activities to some extent.
