According to SpeedMe.ru, the first images of the Chevrolet Corvette C8 prototype have appeared on the internet. The car is equipped with equipment to measure emissions and features the Z06 Carbon Aero wing and a wide body.
Experts speculate that this could be an early prototype of the Corvette Grand Sport or an experimental engine version of the E-Ray hybrid. According to another version, a new Small Block V8 is located under the hood, replacing the LT2 engine.
GM had previously announced a $579 million investment in the Flint plant — where the new engine will be produced. Initially, it is expected to be used in the 2027 Silverado and Sierra models, and later in the Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, and Escalade.
Although GM has not officially confirmed the Corvette update for 2026, the likelihood of a presentation in 2027 is strong. The new engine promises a 10-12% improvement in power, efficiency, and responsiveness while maintaining the 90° V8 layout and pushrod mechanism.
