BMW Group will introduce new Alpina models in 2027

After the BMW Group fully acquired the Alpina brand, the German automaker is preparing to launch the first models that will mark a new era for the marque. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to available information, the Alpina B7 sedan, based on the updated BMW 7 Series, and the Alpina XB7 crossover, derived from the new generation of the BMW X7, will debut in 2027. This step is considered a significant milestone in the brand's evolution from an independent tuning workshop to a permanent division of the automotive giant.
Despite the recent unveiling of a new Alpina concept, series-production models will bear little resemblance to its exterior design. The main reason cited is that development work on the B7 and XB7 projects was completed before the concept version was presented.
Nevertheless, the vehicles will retain the brand’s new identity through a refreshed emblem, multi-spoke classic alloy wheels, and exclusive interior trim materials. BMW management has decided to preserve Alpina’s philosophy and continue its traditions without alteration.
Within BMW’s hierarchy, the Alpina brand will occupy a distinct niche. While the BMW M division focuses on maximum speed and sporty character, Alpina traditionally combines high performance with unmatched comfort and luxury.
Inside the company, the Alpina B7 model is being developed under a special index. This means the current flagship sedan will be offered in three variants simultaneously: standard, armored, and luxury.
As for the powertrain, the Alpina B7 is expected to be available with both six-cylinder and eight-cylinder engines. The base version will be built on the BMW 740 xDrive platform, while the higher modification will feature a powerful V8 engine.
Interestingly, the brand currently has no plans to release an Alpina model based on the fully electric i7. Company specialists believe that traditional internal combustion engines better suit Alpina’s current clientele and market positioning.
The upcoming generation of the BMW X7 crossover will also serve as the basis for the Alpina XB7. This model, like the sedan, will stand out due to its revised chassis and design solutions focused on comfort.
In its new strategy, BMW refers to the Alpina brand as a luxury layer. This segment sits above standard BMW models but one step below Rolls-Royce vehicles.
In fact, this strategy is a direct response to Mercedes-Maybach models. By 2028, BMW aims to introduce another new Alpina model capable of competing with the Mercedes-Maybach GLS in the market.
Thus, what began a few years ago as the acquisition of a simple tuning center has evolved into a broad initiative aimed at securing a strong position in the ultra-luxury automobile segment—the most profitable in the global automotive market. The launch of the new Alpina B7 and XB7 models is expected in 2027.
