Chery announced a lifetime warranty for electric vehicle batteries

Chery Automobile has announced that it will provide a lifetime warranty on batteries and electric motors for its electric and hybrid models, according to Zamin.uz.
This decision reflects not only the brand’s high confidence in its products, but also the tightening of safety standards in the global automotive market. The warranty applies to vehicles equipped with the company’s proprietary Rhino batteries.
The move comes as China implements a new national standard considered one of the strictest in the world. Company representatives emphasized that Rhino series batteries already fully comply with the new regulations.
The updated standards impose unprecedented requirements on thermal and mechanical stability of batteries. Under rules that will become mandatory for all manufacturers in the coming years, if a battery begins to overheat or catch fire, it must not explode or release flames for at least two hours.
This timeframe is considered sufficient for firefighters to arrive or for the hazard to be neutralized. Another critical requirement for passenger safety is that, in the event of a malfunction, smoke must not enter the cabin for at least five minutes.
This allows drivers and occupants to evacuate the vehicle safely. Additionally, batteries are tested for resistance to strong impacts, meaning they must not ignite even in cases of mechanical damage.
Chery has not only extended the warranty period but also introduced a unique commitment: if a fire in the vehicle is proven to result from a factory battery defect, the company is obligated to replace the vehicle with a new model of the same specification.
The next step in Chery’s strategy is to transition to mass production of solid-state batteries by 2027. This technology offers greater safety and higher energy density compared to current lithium-ion batteries.
Given the brand’s active presence in the Uzbek market, this initiative is expected to significantly influence other manufacturers as well. Such competition among Chinese producers will help substantially increase consumer trust in electric vehicles.
Today, buyers pay attention not only to technical specifications but also to long-term safety guarantees.
