Drivers are reminded to carry a passport or ID card with them at all times.
The Road Traffic Safety Service has issued an official statement regarding reports circulating since July 1 of this year that drivers' documents have been fully digitized, as reported by Zamin.uz.

In recent days, discussions have been spreading on social media claiming that it is sufficient to present all documents solely via a mobile phone. However, officials have clarified this information, reminding drivers that certain obligations remain in effect.

According to the information provided, inspectors have the ability to check a driver's license and vehicle-related documents remotely through a specialized information system. Nevertheless, the requirement to carry an identity-verifying document—such as a biometric passport or ID card—remains in force.

This means that when stopped by a Road Patrol Service inspector, a driver must present the original copy of this document to confirm their identity. Under the new procedure, drivers are no longer required to carry physical copies of their driver's license, vehicle technical passport, power of attorney, insurance policy, or permits for window tinting in either paper or plastic form.

The inspector verifies these documents independently by accessing the state electronic database via their tablet device. If the documents are found in the database, no objections are raised against the driver.

It is important to emphasize that claims about all documents being fully digitized and the possibility of driving without identity-verifying documents are unfounded. The Road Traffic Safety Service urges drivers to remain vigilant and recommends checking before departure that they definitely have their passport or ID card with them.

Furthermore, the absence of an identity-verifying document may result in administrative liability under current legislation. In conclusion, while the digitization process has created significant convenience for drivers and reduced unnecessary paperwork, compliance with state-established rules—particularly, always carrying one's identity document—remains a duty for every driver.

These measures contribute to ensuring road safety and organizing the process of driver identification.
