"Pejo" and "Dunfen" to create new flagship electric vehicles in collaboration

Peugeot, a brand renowned for its French heritage, is preparing to unveil two new flagship electric vehicles in collaboration with Dongfeng, one of China's largest automobile manufacturers. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The models under this project are expected to be the largest and most technologically advanced in the brand's history. Although these electric vehicles are based on a Chinese platform, the company's leadership promises they will retain the essence of true French automobiles and the Peugeot spirit in every aspect.
This information has been confirmed by influential publications. Based on concept cars showcased at the Beijing International Auto Show, these new vehicles will belong to the D-segment.
One of them will reflect the versatility characteristic of the Peugeot 508 model, while the other will appear as a crossover significantly larger than any of the brand's current European models. Peugeot CEO Alain Fave emphasized that the new project is not merely a rebranding effort but a deep, two-way engineering collaboration.
While the new electric vehicles will rely on Dongfeng's technical base and powertrain, their exterior design and interior layout will be fully handled by Peugeot specialists. This ensures that the vehicle's road dynamics and cabin comfort will meet the high standards learned by the brand's enthusiasts.
According to Alain Fave, these models will offer a genuine Peugeot experience from the user's perspective and deliver a unique driving pleasure. Strategically, this step will help Peugeot strengthen its position in the Chinese market.
Currently, the Chinese automotive market is one of the largest and most competitive in the world, especially in the electric vehicle segment. Partnering with a local manufacturer allows for significant cost reduction in production and faster adaptation to changing market demands.
The most intriguing and unexpected aspect of the project is that these new flagship models will not be sold in Europe. The company's leadership officially stated that there are no plans to introduce these vehicles to the European continent.
The main reason cited is that the dimensions of the new vehicles are too large for European cities and standards, and they have been specifically designed to meet the tastes and needs of Chinese consumers. Peugeot intends to continue its European strategy based on its own platforms within the Stellantis corporation.
By 2030, the brand aims to fully refresh its regional model lineup. As part of this plan, a new generation of the e-208 compact model, an electric version of the Peugeot 308 hatchback, and a series of new models produced in France are expected to be launched.
For developing markets like Uzbekistan, this news could be of significant importance, as Peugeot often exports models manufactured in China to international markets, including Central Asia.
