Concerns about electric car battery life were found to be unfounded

Many drivers considering the purchase of an electric car often worry about one key question. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
They fear that if the battery—the most expensive component of the vehicle—fails, they could face significant repair costs. However, a recent study conducted by a well-known British warranty company has confirmed that most of these concerns are unfounded.
According to the findings, owners of electric vehicles encounter simpler and more unexpected mechanical issues more frequently than battery-related problems. The study concludes that in electric cars, components commonly found in traditional internal combustion engine vehicles tend to fail more often.
In particular, electrical equipment such as various sensors, detectors, and the central control system are prone to malfunctions. Repairing and adjusting these issues can cost anywhere from five hundred to one and a half thousand dollars on average.
Additionally, the running gear of electric vehicles—especially suspension components—has been observed to wear out or break down more quickly. The main reason cited is the increased weight of electric cars.
Because heavy batteries significantly increase the vehicle’s mass, this in turn raises the load on the wheels and suspension system. Repairing these parts typically costs around one and a half thousand dollars on average.
One of the most serious and costly issues specific to electric vehicles is the failure of the onboard charging unit. While repairing this component usually costs around three thousand dollars, in practice, insurance companies have paid out as much as fourteen thousand dollars in some cases.
This highlights the importance of handling this unit with care. Interestingly, the battery—the component drivers fear failing the most—actually malfunctions very rarely.
Analysts consider the battery system to be one of the most reliable parts of an electric vehicle. Of course, if a fault does occur, repair costs could exceed eight and a half thousand dollars, but such cases are extremely uncommon.
At the same time, experts warn that the cost of repairing electric vehicles is rising year by year. Over the past year alone, the average repair price has increased by more than ten percent.
The main reasons cited are the high cost of high-tech spare parts and the ongoing shortage of qualified specialists. Despite this, electric vehicles continue to gain traction in the global market due to their cost-efficiency and environmental friendliness.
