The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, announced the introduction of a new, stricter system for monitoring road traffic. This was reported by Upl.uz.
This system is aimed at systematically combating violations committed by drivers. According to the President, considering the need to restore order on the roads and the serious concerns raised by the current situation, it is time to take action.
In 2024, nearly 24 million violations were recorded by drivers in Uzbekistan, of which 81 percent were classified as serious violations. The most complex cases are observed in Samarkand, Kashkadarya, Tashkent regions, and the capital.
The incorrect notion circulating on social media, including accounts of famous personalities, that one has the right to violate rules by paying a fine is causing serious concern. The President firmly emphasized that this notion is incorrect and promised to prevent such cases through the new system to enhance driving culture and demonstrate the power of the law.
As part of the new initiative, a "Systematic Violators" system will be introduced. It includes the following changes: discounts on fines will be canceled for cases of running a red light twice within a month or driving in the opposite direction, and this will be valid for one year; a driver's license will be temporarily revoked for up to six months for drivers who commit ten or more violations within a month; penalties for speeding will be reviewed, and a penalty of deprivation of the right to drive will be introduced for those who exceed the allowed limit by two to three times.
These measures are aimed at fostering respect for traffic rules and responsible behavior, as well as ensuring the safety of other road users. The new system aims to improve traffic culture and strengthen the rule of law.
