Uzbekistan has sold billions of dollars worth of gold in international markets since the beginning of 2025, according to nova24.uz, based on data from the State Statistics Committee.
In January-March, the foreign trade turnover amounted to 17.3 billion dollars, which is 8.6% more than in 2024. The export volume increased by 24.4%, reaching 8.1 billion dollars. Meanwhile, imports decreased by 2.3%, totaling 9.2 billion dollars.
The negative difference in the foreign trade balance fell to 1.09 billion dollars.
Gold exports amounted to 3.57 billion dollars, which is 34% more than last year. The share of gold in total exports increased from 40.9% to 44%.
Additionally, although the physical volume of gold in Uzbekistan's gold and foreign exchange reserves has decreased, its total value has significantly increased against the backdrop of rising prices.
If gold exports are excluded from the statistics, the overall growth in foreign trade will be only 3.5%.
