Uzbekistan exported 36 million dollars worth of cherries abroad in five months

In the first five months of this year, Uzbekistan exported approximately 16,800 tons of cherries to foreign countries, according to Zamin.uz.
According to data from the National Statistics Agency, these trade operations generated $36.5 million in foreign currency revenue for the state budget. Although Uzbek cherries were supplied to 11 countries worldwide, the total export volume decreased significantly compared to the same period last year.
The figures show that the quantity of products sold this year was 4,100 tons less than last year. The majority of the product was traditionally directed to the Russian market.
Between January and May, a total of 11,700 tons of cherries were shipped to the Russian Federation, representing the largest share of overall exports. Additionally, neighboring countries also ranked among the main buyers of Uzbek cherries.
Specifically, 2,600 tons were delivered to Kyrgyzstan and 2,000 tons to Kazakhstan, confirming the continued strength of regional trade ties.
Furthermore, Uzbek cherries reached other distant and nearby markets: 135.3 tons were exported to the Republic of Belarus and 116.7 tons to the United Arab Emirates.
The remaining 140 tons of cherries were distributed among various other countries. Despite a slight decline in export volume, cherries remain one of the most profitable and in-demand products in Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector.
Experts emphasize that expanding trade in this direction and accessing new markets is of significant importance for the country’s economy.
