March 24 is recognized as World Depression Awareness Day. It is a great opportunity to talk about mental health and to dispel the myths that still exist about psychology.
Some still believe that only "seriously ill" individuals seek help from psychologists, while others fear being "sent to a mental hospital" after a consultation. But is this really the case?
In the Sputnik Uzbekistan segment, family and crisis psychologist Sofia Hasanova answers the most common questions about psychology, fear, therapy, and its costs.
“Recently, it is encouraging to see a positive trend in the attitude towards psychology and psychiatry in Uzbekistan. People are increasingly turning to specialists instead of holding their problems inside for years,” says the expert.
Among the most common psychological issues, she highlights anxiety and stress that arise in the pursuit of success.
“Social networks create the illusion that everyone around is living better, more successfully, and wealthier... This makes people very anxious. However, before chasing after others' goals, it is important to ask yourself: what do I want? What truly makes me happy?” she says.
Is it true that psychologists themselves are prone to stress? Can they diagnose? When should one consult a specialist and how can it change your life?
You can find answers to these and other questions in the Sputnik Uzbekistan video.
