Those who voluntarily surrender firearms will be rewarded with cash compensation

By the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, amendments and additions were made to the regulation on "Approval of the procedure for voluntarily surrendering unregistered firearms and their ammunition, explosive materials, and blasting devices to internal affairs bodies, as well as rewarding those who surrendered firearms and their ammunition."
The following procedure for surrendering weapons and their ammunition is established:
- A natural person applies to the internal affairs body or a preventive inspector and surrenders the weapon and (or) its ammunition;
- On the same day, the internal affairs body accepts the weapon (ammunition) and issues a receipt for accounting the weapon (ammunition);
- Subsequently, relevant inspections (pre-investigation checks, ballistic expertise, database checks) are conducted by the responsible divisions of the internal affairs bodies;
- The relevant commission makes a decision on rewarding the applicant.
A reward of 5 to 500 percent of the minimum wage is provided for voluntarily surrendering weapons or ammunition, specifically:
- For a silenced firearm, combined (silenced and smoothbore) firearm – 500 percent of the minimum wage;
- For a smoothbore firearm – 400 percent of the minimum wage;
- For a firearm without a barrel (a weapon using a cartridge case as a barrel) – 300 percent of the minimum wage;

- For edged cold weapons (rapiers, sabers, and swords), throwing weapons (bows, crossbows, and spears) – 50 percent of the minimum wage;
