
On May 13, an important high-level meeting took place between the official delegations of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan at the Termez International Trade Center. The meeting was attended by Ismatilla Ergashev, the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ulugbek Qosimov, the Governor of Surkhandarya region, Mullo Abdul Vose, the head of the Afghan Prime Minister's office, and officials led by Muhammad Yusuf Vafo, the Governor of Balkh province.
During the discussions, issues were raised regarding the further strengthening of existing multilateral cooperation between the two countries, expanding trade and economic relations, developing transport corridors, as well as deepening cooperation in humanitarian and cultural fields. The parties exchanged views on maximizing the existing opportunities for mutual cooperation and the prospects for future collaboration.
At the end of the meeting, as a symbol of mutual friendship and good neighborly relations, 16 trucks loaded with the famous white marble of Herat, specially allocated for the construction of the Imam Bukhari complex being built in Samarkand, were handed over to Uzbekistan. This marble, renowned worldwide for its high quality and unique appearance, will be used as one of the main decorations in the construction process of the Imam Bukhari complex.
The official delegations recognized this event as another strengthening of friendship and cooperation between the two nations. The parties agreed to further expand such mutual relations in the future.
This meeting is expected to open a new chapter in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian relations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. This will serve to further develop the relations between the two countries in a more stable and effective manner.
