Current issues in football refereeing in Russia are still being discussed. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Unfortunately, the implementation of the VAR system is not a complete solution to the problems. Referees sometimes make serious mistakes.
The pages of the Sport-Express publication have published a general table of refereeing errors over the last five seasons (starting from the 2021/2022 season). This table shows how referees' mistakes have affected certain teams.
The most mistakes benefited the "Akmat" team (32 mistakes benefited, 17 mistakes harmed), as well as "Spartak" (39/25) and "Lokomotiv" (32/21) teams. On the other hand, the "Rostov" (-9 = 21 benefited, 30 harmed), "Zenit" (-10 = 17/27), and "Dinamo" (-11 = 17/28) teams suffered the most harm due to referees' decisions.
Overall, referees made the most mistakes in favor of "Spartak" (39) and against "Rostov" (30). These cases are prompting a renewed examination of fairness and justice in football.
New measures need to be implemented to improve the quality of refereeing.
