The director general of Madrid's Atletico football club, Miguel Angel Gil, spoke about how the construction of a new stadium is causing long-term issues in purchasing players for the club. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, the construction of the new stadium requires significant funds, which reduces the club's financial capabilities. For reference, the club's new stadium opened in 2017.
Miguel Angel Gil stated that the new stadium construction will not pay off in the short term. In 2021, the club managed to allocate 120 million euros for player purchases, and in 2024, another 70 million euros was allocated for this purpose.
It was thanks to these funds that the club had the opportunity to acquire players like Alvarez, Sorloth, Le Norman, and Gallagher. It has been announced that the new season of the Spanish championship will start for Madrid's Atletico club on August 17.
On that day, the club will play against the Espanyol team. According to the club's management, despite financial constraints, the team has set high goals for itself.
