The head coach of the Iranian national football team, Amir Ghalenoei, has announced a squad of 21 players for the matches against Uzbekistan and the UAE in the 2026 World Cup qualifying round.
Iran will host the UAE on March 20 at the "Azadi" stadium in Tehran and will face Uzbekistan at the same stadium five days later.
Goalkeepers — Payam Niyazmand, Mohammad Khalifeh.
Defenders — Milad Muhammadi, Omid Noorafkan, Ali Ne'mati, Daniyal Iri, Hussain Kanani, Amin Hazbavi, Arya Yousufi.
Midfielders — Mohammad Mohebbi, Mehdi Ghaedi, Saman Goddos, Said Izzatullah, Mohammad Gorbani, Sayid Mohammad Karimi, Alirizo Jahonbash, Ali Golizoda.
Forwards — Mehdi Taremi, Javad Hussaynejad, Ali Alipur, Sardor Azmun.
The Iranians are leading Group "A" with 16 points, three points ahead of Uzbekistan. The UAE is in third place with 10 points.
The match between Iran and Uzbekistan will kick off on March 25 at 21:00 Tashkent time
