Starting from the next season, the limit on the number of legionnaires for Russian Premier League clubs may be tightened. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to the current system, a club can have a maximum of 13 legionnaires in its squad for a season, and 8 of them can be on the field at the same time. According to the new proposed regulations, these numbers will be limited to 10 legionnaires and 5 legionnaires on the field at the same time.
In this regard, the president of Makhachkala's "Dinamo" club, Gaji Gadjiyev, expressed his opinion. He emphasized that the decision to reduce the number of legionnaires is being made hastily.
He stated that implementing such changes without consulting experts is not advisable. According to Gadjiyev, this issue should have been considered after the opportunity to participate in international competitions was created.
In the current situation, this decision is also not correct from a political point of view. Gadjiyev also noted that the new limit could reduce competition and interest in the Russian championship.
The reason is that the strongest players may end up concentrated in only two or three clubs. For reference, the Makhachkala "Dinamo" team has accumulated four points in the last three rounds.
The team recorded one victory, one draw, and one defeat.
