Former famous football player Alexander Grishin expressed his thoughts on the upcoming games of the Russian national team. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, during the gathering in September, the team led by Valery Karpin will take the field against the national teams of Jordan and Qatar. Grishin emphasized that Asian teams are competitive.
However, there are even stronger teams in the Asian Football Confederation region. For example, he mentioned that the Japanese national team is stronger compared to others.
According to Grishin, playing against competitive teams allows the national team to test its capabilities. He also noted that away games are always challenging, especially since the weather in Qatar can be very hot, making the games difficult.
It has been announced that the Russian national team will play against Jordan at home on September 4. The game against Qatar will take place away on September 7.
The Russian Football Union had previously reported that both games would be counted for the FIFA ranking. Therefore, head coach Valery Karpin will not be able to substitute more than six players in each game.
It should be noted that the Russian national team has only been playing friendly matches for the last three and a half years.
