Andrey Kobelev, the former head coach of the "Dinamo" team in Tashkent, responded to the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Sports to tighten restrictions on foreign players in the Russian football championship. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to the new regulation, a maximum of five foreign players can be on the field at the same time, and the total number of foreign players in the team's roster must not exceed ten. According to Kobelev, such changes may pose difficulties for some clubs.
He stated that restrictions on foreign players are frequently changed, which may cause some clubs to struggle to adapt to the new regulations. Kobelev also emphasized that it is not appropriate for five foreign players to sit on the bench under the new rules.
In his opinion, if the restrictions are tightened, it would be advisable to have five foreign players on the field and two on the bench. Additionally, Kobelev drew attention to the issues in the salary system for players.
He believes that due to a lack of competition, average local players may receive salaries comparable to those of leading foreign players. This negatively impacts the development of football.
Kobelev stressed the need to maintain balance in these matters.
