The president of the Spanish football championship – La Liga, Javier Tebas, has been planning to hold a championship match in the USA for a long time. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to the sports publication, this initiative has taken an important step towards realization. It is reported that the La Liga match between “Villarreal” and “Barcelona” may be held in the USA.
This concerns the match within the framework of the 17th round of the Spanish championship. The main date for this round is set for December 21.
During this period, since there are no Champions League matches, it creates a favorable opportunity to hold the meeting abroad. Additionally, since “Villarreal” has also secured a Champions League spot, this game is noteworthy as a high-level encounter.
Currently, high-ranking representatives of Spanish football are continuing to discuss this matter. There is still enough time to hold a championship match outside of Spain for the first time in La Liga history.
Organizers need to agree on all the details and ensure a high-level game is organized.
