Defender Mats Hummels has ended his football career this summer. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
In the past season, the experienced player played for the “Roma” team. Previously, Hummels played for “Borussia” (Dortmund) for two long periods: from 2008 to 2016 and from 2019 to 2024.
His last match was also with the Dortmund team. He played in the game against “Juventus”.
Hummels started in the main lineup and played for about 17 minutes. After that, he was substituted amid applause from the fans in the stadium.
Players from both teams formed an honor guard for Hummels. The match did not go well for “Borussia”.
The Dortmund team lost to “Juventus” with a score of 1:2. Andrea Cambiaso scored twice for the Italians.
Maximilian Bayer scored the only goal for “Borussia”. The game took place at the “Signal Iduna Park” stadium.
Due to the players who came on and the substitutions, many players participated from both teams. For Hummels, this was the last official match of his career.
Thus, he concluded his rich football career.
