According to Jean-Philippe Lecleir, deputy editor-in-chief of France's L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is looking to part ways with Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He stated that there are political and sporting factors involved in this matter. First of all, the team recently acquired Ukrainian defender Ilya Zabarnyi.
Head coach Luis Enrique has high hopes for this player and intends to create a favorable environment for him. Therefore, measures are being taken to ensure that the Ukrainian player feels comfortable within the team.
Lecleir also emphasized that although Safonov performed well last season, he is not considered a key player for PSG. The club wants to sell him, but Safonov himself is not willing to leave the team.
Additionally, another issue is that PSG purchased Safonov from Krasnodar for a very large sum. Currently, this price is high for potential buyers and complicates the player's transfer to another club.
As a result, no clear decision has yet been made regarding the future of the club and the player.
