Parma club's central defender Jovanni Leoni is expected to be sold to Liverpool soon. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The negotiations between the clubs have concluded, and if no unexpected circumstances arise, this transfer will be officially confirmed. Parma club will earn 35 million euros from the sale of the 18-year-old player.
This is the fourth most expensive transfer in the club's history. The most expensive transfer in the club's history occurred in 2000 when former striker Hernan Crespo was sold to Lazio for nearly 57 million euros.
In second place is goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, who was purchased by Juventus for approximately 53 million euros in 2001.
That summer, Juventus also bought Parma defender Lilian Thuram for 36 million euros. Jovanni Leoni has played only 17 matches in Serie A so far.
However, renowned former coach Arrigo Sacchi emphasized that this situation should not worry anyone. Thus, this transfer is expected to be a significant step for the young player, and the club will also gain financial benefits.
This transfer can be noted as an important event in Parma's history.
