Abbosbek Fayzullayev: "He could be the new star of Galatasaray"

The national team of Uzbekistan and the attacking player of Russia's CSKA club, Abbosbek Fayzullayev, is attracting serious interest from one of Turkey's most powerful clubs, “Galatasaray.” This has been reported by international sports publications.
The Turkish club sees Fayzullayev as a replacement for Dries Mertens
Famous Russian football analyst and former member of the Russian national team, Dmitriy Sennikov, noted that “Galatasaray” wants to bring Abbosbek Fayzullayev to the team as a replacement for experienced Belgian player Dries Mertens. The main reason for this is the similarity in the playing styles of the two players.
“Fayzullayev has high technical skills. He stands out with his dribbling, ability to deceive opponents, accurate shots, good field vision, and the ability to create dangerous situations,” Sennikov said.
37-year-old Dries Mertens has recorded 5 goals and 18 assists in 42 matches this season. However, his contract expires on June 30, and “Galatasaray” is planning to acquire young and talented player Fayzullayev as his replacement.
The new tactics at CSKA are affecting the player's game
After the winter break, CSKA head coach Marko Nikolich changed the team's playing style, which has seriously impacted Fayzullayev's game.
According to the new scheme, he has been shifted from his usual winger position to the center. This limits his opportunities to organize attacks and requires significant effort. Therefore, in some matches, Fayzullayev is not fully participating in the game.
Fayzullayev's outstanding performance in the national team has impressed “Galatasaray”
Abbosbek Fayzullayev has excelled in his role as a winger for the Uzbekistan national team. He performed effectively in matches against Kyrgyzstan and Iran:
- He provided a valuable assist in the match against Kyrgyzstan,
- And scored a brilliant free-kick goal in the match against Iran.
These performances prompted the leadership of “Galatasaray” to pay serious attention to Fayzullayev. He can play as a central midfielder, left winger, and forward – just like Dries Mertens.
Will Fayzullayev head to Turkey?
So far, “Galatasaray” has not made an official offer for Fayzullayev, but the Turkish club is very eager to add him to their squad. If negotiations conclude positively, the Uzbek player will have the opportunity to play for one of Europe's top clubs.
The transfer issue may be clarified in the coming weeks. If the agreement is reached, Fayzullayev will become the first Uzbek player in the history of “Galatasaray.”
