On March 31 (April 1 in Tashkent time), the World Boxing Cup started in Brazil. The Uzbekistan team, led by To'lqin Qilichev, is participating in 10 weight categories.
On the first day of the competition, three representatives of Uzbekistan – Mirazizbek Mirzaxalilov (-55 kg), Iqboljon Xoldorov (-70 kg), and Javohir Ummataliyev (-80 kg) entered the ring in the qualifying stage and defeated representatives from Sweden, Poland, and Italy, respectively, advancing to the quarterfinals.
On the second day, Madiyar Daniyarov (-60 kg), Asilbek Jalilov (-50 kg), and Akmaljon Isroilov (-85 kg) also triumphed in their qualifying matches against representatives from Italy, Kazakhstan, and Switzerland, respectively.
On April 2, Mirazizbek Mirzaxalilov fought his second match of the tournament against Polish Nikolas Pawlik, winning decisively and advancing to the semifinals.
Iqboljon Xoldorov lost in his second bout of the tournament against Englishman Odel Kamara, according to the judges' decisions.
-65 kg weight category representative, Paris 2024 Olympic champion Asadxo'ja Mo'yidinxo'jayev began his participation in the tournament from the quarterfinals but lost to the host representative Yuri Reyes in his first match.
Javohir Ummataliyev also overcame his next opponent, American Robbi Gonsales.
On April 3, Uzbekistan's third representative also ended his participation in the tournament early – Madiyar Daniyarov (-60 kg) lost in the semifinals to Brazilian Luiz Oliveira and had to settle for bronze.
In turn, To'rabek Habibullayev (-90 kg) defeated Indian Vishal, Asilbek Jalilov (-50 kg) defeated Indian Jadumani Mandengbam, Fazliddin Erkinboyev (-75 kg) defeated Polish Michal Jarlinski, and Jahongir Zokirov (+90 kg) defeated Kazakhstani Daniyal Saparbay, advancing to the finals.
