New football system introduced for Argentine youth

The Argentine Football Association has introduced a new regulation aimed at reducing the number of young footballers moving abroad. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by *The Athletic* and *euro-football.ru*. According to the new rule, if a player moves abroad without signing a professional contract with a local club, they may be ineligible for call-up to the national team.
The country's existing "patria potestad" law allows parents to transfer their children to foreign clubs without compensation. However, the football association does not have the authority to repeal this law.
Nevertheless, the risk of losing the opportunity to play for the national team is expected to reduce youth transfers abroad. It is noted that if this rule had been in effect earlier, players like Lionel Messi and Emiliano Martínez might have been forced to represent other countries instead of the Argentine national team.
For this reason, the new regulation is aimed at encouraging young talents to stay in the country. The association hopes that this will contribute to the development of local football and maintain a strong national team lineup.
