La Liga president: “If the Super League is introduced, Spanish football will lose more than 1 billion euros!”
The Super League project, which has shaken European football in recent years, is back on the agenda. The president of Spain's La Liga, Javier Tebas, expressed serious concerns about the harm this project could cause to the football economy and the risk of reducing competitiveness.

According to Tebas, if this project is implemented, Spanish football will suffer significant economic damage:
“Football accounts for 1.4 percent of our country's gross domestic product (GDP). If we accept the Super League project, our economic loss will amount to 1.16 billion euros. This means that one-third of the existing football market, or 32 percent, will be lost. Such a loss would be a major blow to Spanish football.”

The La Liga president also emphasized that the main advantage of the existing national championship is the high level of competition:
“Every game is of great importance. If the champion team collects less than 90 points by the end of the season, it shows high competition, indicating that there is a struggle for victory in every match. The strongest aspect of the league is precisely this: the winner is not predetermined.”

This season also confirms these thoughts. Under the leadership of Hans-Dieter Flick, Barcelona has collected 82 points in 35 matches, maintaining the lead. However, the championship for this team is not yet guaranteed. In second place, Real Madrid, managed by Carlo Ancelotti, is following with 75 points. Another major club from Madrid, Atletico, is in third place with 70 points.

Javier Tebas pointed out that if the Super League project is implemented, this exciting competitive environment could disappear. This would lead to negative consequences for football fans and the general public.

The initial proposal of this project faced significant criticism and resistance when it was presented in 2021. UEFA, FIFA, and various national federations did not accept this idea, stating that it would harm football. For this reason, the Super League project could not gain widespread support and was temporarily suspended.

The editorial team of Zamin.uz also supports the preservation of a competitive environment in European football and the development of football as a national game. All fans should strive to maintain the created vibrant competitive environment and ensure the economic stability of the football sector.
