Shomurodov openly spoke about his mistake in Rome: "The coach is not my enemy..."

Eldor admits that his biggest mistake upon joining "Roma" was not recognizing the situation. "When I came to 'Roma,' Edin Dzeko was in the squad. I thought that since he was older, I would have more chances to play in the starting lineup. But soon, the club sold Dzeko. I was left as the only striker. After a while, information appeared in the press about negotiations with Tammy Abraham. Even worse, some newspapers wrote that Abraham was guaranteed a spot in the starting lineup. At that time, I tried not to believe those reports because I thought if I was in good form, the coach wouldn't go against me," the player says.

Recalling his first season at "Roma," Shomurodov openly highlighted the situations that negatively affected him mentally. "At the beginning of the season, I scored a goal against 'Trabzonspor,' which motivated me well. But then, before the match against 'Fiorentina,' they put Abraham in the starting lineup, even though he had just arrived in Rome three days before the match. In the Conference League, Abraham was also the first choice. From that moment on, I started to believe the reports in those newspapers, thinking that Abraham was actually guaranteed a spot, and I was being treated unfairly, which really depressed me," Eldor says.

However, Eldor also emphasizes that he now understands he actually chose the wrong path in that situation: "I had previously sat on the bench at clubs like 'Rostov' and 'Genoa,' but at the same time, I always tried to show myself in the short minutes I was given. But at 'Roma,' instead of believing in myself, I began to blame those around me. As a result, I stopped fighting, and this led to my decline. In fact, the right approach was my attitude at 'Rostov.' That is, I aimed to make the most of every minute given and influence the game. If I had maintained that attitude at 'Roma,' the situation could have been different."

Eldor Shomurodov is now acknowledging this mistake and emphasizing the need to approach training seriously and take advantage of every opportunity. His sincere words can serve as a valuable lesson for young players as well. Shomurodov now believes in his strength and is striving to achieve even higher results.
