Barcelona midfielder Alexia Putellas has been named the best player in the 2025-2026 UEFA Women's Champions League, according to Zamin.uz.
The Spanish playmaker reaffirmed her status as one of Europe’s strongest athletes with standout performances and decisive contributions during the playoff stage, playing a pivotal role in guiding her team to a fourth European title.
This was reported by Goal.com. UEFA’s technical observers group officially confirmed Putellas’ victory following Barcelona’s commanding win in the final held in Oslo.
In the final, the Catalan side defeated Lyon 4-0, once again demonstrating their dominance in European football. Putellas served as the team’s primary creative force throughout the tournament, proving why she remains one of the most influential figures in women’s football.
Looking at the numbers, her impact is undeniable. This season, she directly contributed to 14 goals, setting a personal best in the Champions League.
Across 11 matches, she scored seven times and delivered numerous assists, showcasing not only her attacking prowess but also her exceptional playmaking ability.
Beyond goals and assists, her technical precision impressed experts: Putellas completed passes with over 86% accuracy, and her top speed on the pitch reached 25 km/h.
This combination of technical excellence and physical readiness enabled Barcelona to overcome every opponent en route to the trophy. This marks Putellas’ second such honor — she was also named the best player of the 2021-2022 season.
Her latest accolade adds to the legacy of her teammate Aitana Bonmatí, who has been dominant in recent years.
Additionally, the award for best young player went to Lili Yohannes of Lyon. Putellas’ continued success further solidifies her place in the history of world football.
