In the decisive match of the third qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup, the Uzbekistan national team defeated Qatar, securing their spot in the World Cup. After the match, our national team head coach Timur Kapadze and midfielder Azizbek Turgunboyev answered journalists' questions.

According to Kapadze, the last matches in the group stage — against the UAE and Qatar — have fully captured the team's attention. Now, the team will implement a serious and step-by-step preparation plan for the World Cup.
— Before the tournament, matches within the CAFA framework and friendly matches against opponents from the USA are planned. I believe that through these games, the team will gain sufficient experience, — said the coach.

While answering questions, Kapadze also shared his thoughts on the team's tactical approach:
— We have worked a lot on the 3-man and 4-man defensive schemes. Today, the players controlled the game without giving the opponent any chances. If the players are healthy and in good shape, we will use various tactical models. There will also be rotations.
Future as a coach?
When asked about the agreement regarding his contract as a temporary head coach, Kapadze responded:
— It would be better to ask the management about that.
