
Aleksandr Medvedev, the chairman of the "Zenit" management, commented on midfielder Jerson. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to Medvedev, the 28-year-old Brazilian player is indeed close to an agreement with the St. Petersburg club. He stated that Jerson successfully underwent a thorough medical examination in the USA and the contract signed with "Zenit" will come into effect. Medvedev reported to "Match TV" that the payment arrangements with the "Flamengo" club are progressing as planned. Jerson has previously played in Europe.
He is considered a midfielder who has made his mark with the teams "Marseille," "Roma," and "Fiorentina." Currently, "Zenit" is preparing for the new season of the Russian championship. There are at least three weeks left until the competition begins.
The team will play against "Rostov" at home in the opening match under head coach Sergey Semak. This will be one of the main tests for the team in the new season.
