The governor of Fergana region, Khayrullo Bozorov, presented the key to a house in Fergana city to Alisher Ganiyev, the first world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling in Uzbekistan's history, as reported by the press service of the governor's office.
Alisher Ganiyev participated in the U23 World Championship held in October 2024 in Tirana, Albania, in the -60 kg weight category and won the gold medal. Thus, he became the first world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling among athletes under 23 years old in Uzbekistan's history.
The house for the champion was allocated from the Eco-city — "New Uzbekistan" complex. The regional governor congratulated the athlete on his achievement and expressed confidence that he would secure a spot for the Olympics in the future.
