The former president of Tashkent's "Lokomotiv" team, Ilya Gerkus, shared his thoughts on the team for the new season. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, the team can continue its results around last season's position. Yes, they have bought Komlichenko, but it is difficult to expect serious achievements with such players.
Gerkus emphasized that the "railway workers" team needs to have three strong players like Batrakov in every line to increase their chances of competing for the championship. Last season, "Lokomotiv" finished sixth in the Russian Premier League table under the leadership of head coach Mikhail Galaktionov.
20-year-old midfielder Aleksey Batrakov scored 14 goals and provided 7 assists in 29 matches. These results demonstrate the team's attacking strength, but the team needs additional strong players to have a cohesive strength.
In Gerkus's opinion, the team aims to maintain its position in the new season, but it is necessary to strengthen the squad to achieve significant successes. Thus, the future success of "Lokomotiv" will largely depend on the qualitative improvement of the players.
